From KARE 11 Minneapolis: It's been a little more than three years since the fatal fire at Hiawatha Towers in Minneapolis' Cedar Riverside neighborhood.  Five people died in that public housing building the day before Thanksgiving, 2019, and state authorities later determined that their lives could have been saved had sprinklers been installed.

According to a notice published in the Federal Register, participants in the NSPIRE Demonstration who are subject to HUD’s Multifamily Housing Program will receive an inspection of record through the NSPIRE demonstration unless they opt out of the demonstration.

President Biden signed the FY23 funding bill, HR 2167, into law after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the “Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023,” on December 23, 2022. The bill’s adoption finalized weeks of tense negotiations during the lame duck session of Congress after the mid-term elections.
